Ilkka Starck appointed CEO of Profit Software

Starck brings more than 20 years senior management experience from leading software companies across the Nordic region, EMEA, Asia and the Americas.

As of August 1st 2010, Ilkka Starck has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer at Profit Software. CEO and Profit Software co-founder Harry Nyroos will continue in a non-operational role in the Board of Directors.

Starck is a senior software-industry executive with significant sales, marketing and business leadership experience from several major companies. He joins Profit Software from power-supply solution provider Efore, where he held overall responsibility for the company’s EUR 70 million sales organization across EMEA, Asia and the Americas. Prior to this he headed up the EMEA sales function at database solution provider Solid Information Technology, which was later acquired by IBM and where Ilkka went on to lead certain global sales operations. Earlier he headed the US subsidiary of internet security firm F-Secure, where he also led the development of the company’s wireless-security solutions business. In addition, Ilkka has served in numerous senior business management, product marketing, testing and design roles at Ericsson in both Finland and Sweden.

“Profit Software is a well-established expert in the field of insurance technology, and I’m very excited by this opportunity to lead the company in its transformation to a truly international product organization,” said Starck. “With dozens of client references across nine different countries, we already have a solid basis for further growth. In this industry, where we supply our clients with the core systems upon which they often base their entire business, long relationships built on trust and shared results are the foundation of our success. With this in mind I will be spending my first few months at Profit Software meeting and getting to know our existing key clients and their specific needs.”

Starck’s appointment is the culmination of a two-year management and ownership makeover at Profit Software, with new talent introduced in the areas of product creation and development; marketing and communications; and delivery and maintenance. In late 2009, Nordic asset management firm CapMan also invested in Profit Software’s international expansion, becoming a significant part owner along with the company’s co-founders, its board members and the vast majority of its employees.
